Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance Soudal) stormed to victory on the Great Orme to take the overall lead at the Tour of Britain Women, ending Lorena Wiebes’ run of consecutive stage wins with a decisive attack on the final climb. The Mauritian accelerated with 2.6km remaining and crossed the line 13 seconds ahead of Liane Lippert, Caroline Anderson finished third at 20 seconds.
“I think you can never be too confident. Last year I had the leader’s jersey on day one and day two I crashed out, so I think we have to keep our head on our shoulders, keep positive and keep fighting till the end.”
