The nose ...knows!

After watching this video on the secret society of a cycling team (Omega Pharma here), I can say I've learned something new.

Ever ask yourself why the riders stick cotton up their nostrils before a TT? The soigneur puts a few drops of Olbas oil on the cotton and then it's up the riders' nostrils.

Olbas oil is a Swiss made decongestant made from essential oils to, in the cyclists case, help enhance breathing passages. Cycling is taking a page from the virtues of using Aromatherapy, this time before the TTT and why not? It provides for better breathing, relaxation and even combats colds and hay fever!

At the start of stage 5...

Making amends...
Gianni Savio (manager for Androni Giocattoli) is probably saying,
"Sorry for what Ferrari did, no hard feelings Cav!."
