Tom Veelers: The Opportunist

A Storming Sprint...
Cavendish out sprints a lunging Greipel & Goss.

Stage 2 Visé-Tournair 207.5km

I predicted Marcel Kittel to win today's stage 2 to Tournai and to add his name as a top Tour sprinter.

It never happened.

In fact, he wasn't even part of the exciting finish, elected to be dropped by the peloton with 20km to go with stomach problems, finishing 6:33 behind. However, it wasn't entirely bad for Argos-Shimano for they had another sprinting ace up their sleeve...

Lead out man, Tom Veelers turned opportunist finished an excellent fourth place. But, he was one of the many sprinters trying to chase down an even better sprinter.... Mark Cavendish.

Full results.

Veelers (left) sprints for a fine 4th.
