Andrew Talansky: PIT BULL ATTACK!

Talansky Time!

I love some nicknames that are given to riders.

Jonathan Vaughters has a nickname for Andrew Talansky ... 'PIT BULL'.

No wonder, the young American Garmin rider put a voracious attack in with a six-man breakaway to win an unpleasant and wet stage 3 Chatel-Guyon to Brioude. Pleasant for the young Talansky, his first win of the season. He also wears the leading young rider white jersey and is the new yellow jersey.

The wet weather made the roads slick and Sky's Vasil Kiryienka made me frozen with fear as his front wheel buckled and sent him careening on a descent. Fortunately, Sky reports, "He has lost some skin on his right side but the team has checked him over and nothing is broken. He will be fine to start the stage tomorrow. He was smiling after the stage!"

For the talented Andrew Talansky a fine win for the Pit Bull...

"Now that I have the jersey, we'll fight to keep it all the way to Col d'Eze. I am really confident about the Col d'Eze time trial. If I can have the yellow jersey on Sunday in Nice, that's all that matters."

He says so with bared teeth!

Treacherous wet roads, Kiryenka falls and Pit Bull Attack!
