Another sauna on stage 2 Tour of California.

Temperatures reached 42 C today and watching the riders withered up the 5km summit outside of Palm Springs, I was thinking the ice cube machines were going overtime in getting ready for the numerous ice baths ahead.

Colombian, Janier Acevedo left Tejay van Garderen on the final km for a huge stage win thus taking the yellow jersey. Tejay van Garderen slots into second place looking every bit as a contender with teammate, Mathias Frank in fourth overall.

On Twitter, Chad Haga (fantastic 6th place today)...

Watching the dehydrated riders crossing the line I couldn't help but think 7 Eleven missed an opportunity...

Hot as Hades, today...
this would've cooled it off!

Acevedo wins a scorcher!
Nice to see the Colombian flag waving.

Cycling is all about technology; a proving ground for inspiration, innovation and making the riders look like fashionistas. Shoes are an important accessory for the riders. Each one lovely to look at, most tailored made. Here's some cycling shoes bling on the Giro runway...

Hi Steve, I'm OK and enjoying the racing. Too bad our Ryder is out of contention. Cheers!
