Stage 2: Bakelandts Folly, Dog Gone Close & The Heat is On!

Knocking on opportunities door!

A couple of first's on stage 2 and during our Frfuggitivi Sunday ride...

Jan Bakelants made a fantastic move with a few hundred meters to avoid a Sagan led peloton to win his biggest victory and now is the new yellow jersey holder. Bakelants is realistic, "It's difficult to believe what happened today, it's fantastic. Today it may be the first and last time I ever wear the yellow jersey."

Bakelant's brilliant victory foiled David Millar's bid for yellow glory, he is one second ahead of the Garmin-Sharp rider.

About 4kms remaining a potential recipe for disaster was avoided when a dog blundered onto the road. A bystander ran after the mutt and then changed his mind, and the dog reached the other side of the road before the fast charging pack. Check out the video it's too close for comfort...

Canadians on stage 2:

Ryder Hesjedal: 29th
David Veilleux: 116th
Svein Tuft: 156th

Our Frfuggitivi ride to Deep Cove was a hot one. It was an incredible 27C at 10AM (I believe the hottest in the AM for us) and the hot weather continues on into next week!

Mario, Guy and I agree that the new blue FDJ kit is a winner...
