Friday File: lL Lombardia Favorites, Muro di Sormano, World Bike, RIP Amy Dombroski & Cicli Moser

Peter Sagan has won many races with panache.

He's a late edition for Sunday's 108th Il Lombardia and if he can make it over the climbs ... well he would be a favorite to win his first Monument. The weather forecast is rain - I'm going to like that adding extra drama to the 242-kilometer classic. The steep Muro di Sormano returns, 2 kms long an average 17%-25% gradient. Gearing will probably be a hot topic between rider & mechanic. Here's an example of what riders used in 1960...

World Champion, Ercole Baldini used a 44 X 20, Van Looy was pushed by fans and Anquetil said it was impossible to go up.

My list of favorites for the last monument: Philippe Gilbert, Thibout Pinot, Dan Martin, Purito Rodriguez, Vincenzo Nibali and new World Champion Rui Costa.

Rider List.

Martin and his panda moment,
on the way to win LBL.

Newly minted, Costa will show off the rainbow stripes.

New rainbow Pinarello for Costa.

Amy Dombroski, 3-times U23 USA cyclocross, was killed when she was hit by truck while training. My thoughts go to her family, friends and team-mates.

Today was cold and I brought out my merino Torm jersey, leg warmers and winter cap for my ride.
Here's a pleasant reminder of hot days...

...and a hot looking Moser!
