Here's to the many that braved Paris-Roubaix...
Juan Antonio Flecha.
So far, January has been somewhat of a challenge to find my riding legs. There's plenty of reason to howl: a new year means new horizons and a new racing season begins with the first WorldTour race, Tour Down Under Jan. 19. But what it really adds up to is getting out there and enjoying the riding experience.
Yesterday, I discovered my riding legs on the seemingly dry Vancouver roads. Not so. After riding on the long stretch, without traffic lights, called SWMarine Drive, I along with my bike was covered in road grime. I approached a light and as a lady crossed the street, she did a double-take gawking at me at how dirty I looked... my Paris-Roubaix look. January is starting out just fine.
New kit for the new Giant-Shimano squad...
Above is the new kit from the newly named Giant-Shimano. Formerly known as Argos Shimano, the Dutch team was saved by bicycle sponsor Giant. When Argos pulled out as title sponsor, in quick fashion, Giant quickly moved to the fore as main sponsor. As timing as of utmost importance in cycling, Giant saved the team from the brink. Also, the challenge was the re-design and re-producing enough kit and equipment for their opening race of the Tour Down Under. They seem to have meet that. Last year, the team was highly successful winning 4 stages at the Tour de France - thanks to speedster Marcel Kittel. Two stage wins by rising star, Warren Barguil in the Vuelta and a total of 31 victories prove the team and to their sponsors they have a huge future.
