Set To Open The Flemish Cycling Week: Dwars door...

Dwars door Vlaanderen opens tomorrow with the start of Vlaamse Wielerweek (Flemish cycling week). One rider absent is Flandrian hero Nico 'Rambo' Eeckhout. Now retired and coaching the An Post Sean Kelly team, he won this race twice (2001 and 2005) and has a pretty good grasp of how to ride when the conditions are foul, he lives in nearby Izegem. Call him Mr. Dwars.

It would be crazy to bet against Tom Boonen and his strong OPQS army. But I will because I prefer an underdog. I would love to see Tyler Farrar prove to everybody, and himself, that he's still capable - third here in 2011. Moreno Hofland looks to be in great form, finished second in Kuurne Brussels Kuurne, and can this be his first big classic win of this season? And, I'll go for Sylvain Chavanel (winner in 2008) as my other dark horse. Mr consistent and ready to give his new IAM Cycling Team it's first classic win.
