Leader Michael Matthews over the unpaved sector.

Strade Bianche is over but in it's place, for us viewers, is the unpaved roads in today's stage 1 of Paris-Nice. Cold weather, early snow and wind challenged the riders. Oh, and don't forget the demanding and welcoming dirt roads that were designed for the Classic riders in mind. Without, Marcel Kittel in the final mix, Arnaud Demare impressively took the final sprint. Nice touch to add unpaved roads to this prestigious race. The organizers gave today's stage, a classic feeling.
Stage 1: Conde-sur-Vesgre-Vendome
1. Arnaud Demare 2. Ben Swift 3. Nacer Bouhanni
Overall
1. Michael Matthews 4.37.30 2. Tom Dumoulin 3s 3. Patrick Bevin 4s
