The Spring Classics were once again exciting and one who stood out was Philippe Gilbert. Joining legends, Jan Raas and Eddy Merckx, he won the Amstel Gold Race for a fourth time and became the third rider to win the Tour of Flanders and Amstel Gold in the same year. Remarkably, he rode the last 130kms of Amstel with a minor kidney tear. A new team, a new re-charge and re-birth for PhilGil!
