Steel is real: Eddy Merckx Corsa
Today's stage to the cobble streets on the Champs-Elysees is never without fanfare. AG2R rides the Belgian brand Eddy Merckx. Working with Columbus, Oliver Naesen will ride on the new Corsa, made completely from Columbus steel. According to Eddy Merckx Cycles: The Corsas are welded from a combination of Columbus Xcr (stainless steel) and Spirit HSS (high quality and light steel). The design contains a few clear references to the bike with which Eddy won the Tour of 1969.
