Italy was the host for the final professional road races of this season on European soil. The Veneto region held the Giro del Veneto and Veneto Classic organized by ex-pro Filippo Pozzato. His aim was to create the atmosphere and course typical of the great Flanders classics (gravel and cobbles) in the Veneto region. Giro del Veneto and Veneto Classic: two new Italian classics are born.
