Gravel racing has grown in popularity since originating from the US Midwest some 15 years ago. The discipline is wonderful for riders seeking unique challenges, it combines elements of road and bike mountain bike, and takes place on gravel, farm roads, forrest tracks and cobbles. This weekend paves the way in the stunning Venoto region of Italy for the first edition of the UCI Gravel World Championships. Let's hope there will be added events for the juniors and U23!
"This is a new point in the history of cycling and gravel cycling. Gravel includes lots of different mindsets but when it comes to racing, this is a great way to start."
-Daniel Oss, silver medalist.
