Fresh from winning a stage at the Tour de Suisse, Biniam Girmay will start the Tour de France off with the hills of the Basque Country and three sprint stages in the first week, he'll be targeting a stage victory and Louis Meintjes will be the leader for GC.
"Our leader for the GC is Louis Meintjes. With his seventh place last year, he obtained the first top ten o four history in the Tour de France. He will receive our full support to repeat this stunt in this edition. The mission of Biniam Girmay is to win a stage in the sprint. To increase our chances, we did the recon of several stages in the past couple of months. We organized trading sessions with the sprint train. It is also a priority for the long term development of Biniam Girmay to finish a race of three weeks for the first time in his career."
-Aike Visbeek Performance Manager.
"We have ambition and planning from the beginning of the season to win one stage and to finish the Tour. After that, we'll see day-to-day. I think this year will be different, but we never know how it's going on and we'll try to see every day."
-Biniam Girmay
"We have a really big goal here. It's not a secret that with Richard we'll try to do the best in the GC. If we have the chance and opportunity, then we also have individual opportunities. We'll support him in the climbs, on the flat, in the bus."
-Esteban Chaves
“The rest fo the team is also quite strong, especially the climbers. Only on the pure sprint days we won’t be in the mix. The rest of the stages we’ll try something with somebody. There are not as many as I would maybe liked. Neilson might have a few more than me. There are a lot of climbing days and hard days.”
