Clasica Jaen: The golden olive goes to…

The first gravel/road race of this season took place in Spain... The Clasica Jaen Paraiso Interior. Torrential rain at the weekend meant the 62km of planned gravel sectors were reduced to 18km, but it was exciting to watch. Heavy favorite Wout van Aert was stymied by a puncture but it was Spanish champion, Oier Lazkano took a symbolic Spanish victory.

“First win of the year and it’s always difficult to win. Winning in Spain with the National Champion’s jersey is something beautiful. I’m really proud of all the work I’ve done in these months.”
