The queen stage of the Tour of the Alps had only two cat climbs, but virtually no flat roads on the profile. The riders had to contend with over 4000 meters of climbing on the 140-kilometer stage. Simon Carr took his first pro win under a year ago at the TOA, with that under his belt he had the form going solo with 45-kilometers to go, to take his second win of the season.
"Today was pretty special also because the first few days were so hard. I came here with some pretty legitimate ambitions for the GC and worked really hard for it. But I got here and really struggled with allergies. The team and Juanma - my DS - said they still had confidence in me and those things can go as quick as they come. Today, I found myself again."
