Zurich World Championships: Muriel Furrer passes away, Mixed TT, U23 RR

 

Muriel Furrer has died at the age of 18.

Swiss cyclist Muriel Furrer, 18, has tragically passed away following a severe head injury sustained during the junior road race on Thursday and was airlifted to a hospital, but succumbed to her injuries. She was a rising star in the sport, having recently won two silver medals in the time trial and road race at the Swiss national championships. Despite the tragic incident, the Zurich Local Organising Committee confirmed that the championship would continue as scheduled, respecting the wishes of the Furrer's family.
