On home roads at the Figueroa Champions Classic, the Portuguese Antonio Morgado soloed to victory with an incredible 21km long attack.
“This win feels really special for me. I felt good during the race and our team was strong. From last year I knew the critical moment would probably be on the steep climb where I attacked so I saw my moment to move and I took it. For me I’m so happy and proud soon here in Portugal. Like the Belgians want to win in Belgium and the French want to win in France… I’m no different. This is the only professional Classic we have here in Portugal and to win it is a big deal for me.”

Clasica de Almeria...
“We were trying to do a leadout and it didn’t go 100% to plan. I think it was Ackermann who crashed, and when he went down of course you’re slamming the brakes, you don’t want to go down yourself, and that destroyed the sprint a bit for me. In the end I’m happy I didn’t crashed and I still have the GC. I still have some work to do. I’m not in top shape yet. But there are still two months until Paris-Roubaix.”
-Mads Pedersen crowned the overall winner, now for the second time, and Lidl-Trek were recognized as the best team.
