An elephant in the room & Alvarado in third CX Flamanville

Thibau Nys claimed his second World Cup win and his third consecutive weekend triumph in CX Flamanville. The Belgian champion and Lars van der Haar of the Baloise Glowi Lions displayed exceptional teamwork in the lead group, including Cameron Mason…

“It’s going really well. I’m super happy that I was able to ride at the front the whole race with Lars van der Haar. We understand each other well, so this is really a team victory today.”
-Thibau Nys

“The significance of third is not lost on me. I know that it’s a really big ride still, and obviously my best-ever result. I’m definitely better than this. I’ll work out what this means, and then try again at the next one. It’s an exciting place to be, but I can’t lie, there’s more in me. It feels a bit like an elephant in the room, that first big win. But it can happen in any ‘cross, everything just has to fall into place.”
-Cameron Mason

“I can’t believe it. I did almost the whole race alone and at my own pace. It was amazing; the crowd and everything, it was really fun this way. I felt quite strong, and I knew that when the others behind me made some small mistakes, but I didn’t, that I gained some advantage.”
-Aniek van Alphen soloing to her first World Cup victory.

“I think I can be very happy with today. I suffered a lot, and it was a hard race for me, so I think today , a third place was the maximum.Aniek was outstanding. Halfway through, I thought that the first place was already gone. Of course, I tried, but I didn’t have the legs to ride faster than I did today.”
-Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado returns to racing from injury.
