Matthew Riccitello (Decathlon) timed his late attack perfectly to win Tour du Jura, securing victory ahead of team-mate Leo Bisiaux with Jordan Jegat (TotalEnergies) completing the podium.
The favourites came to the fore on the slopes of Mont Poupet and Riccitello made his move in the closing kilometres of the steep ascent, attacking at the moment the race came back together and immediately opening a gap that proved decisive. The American climber powered clear to take a controlled victory on the summit.
“It was good for Nico and Leo to be aggressive at the in the first parts of the climb. And then I knew I had good legs. So, with three and a half K to go after Leo accelerated, I just thought I would attack just go as hard as I could to the finish. I thought if I got a gap, I could hold it. It wasn’t easy. Jegat was strong behind, but I had good legs today.”
