France’s Paul Magnier has taken his third stage win on stage 18 and returned to the maglia ciclamino after the sprinters had their way in Pieve di Soligo. On a tough finish featuring a cat-four climb with 10km to go, it didn’t always look as though the sprinter would have their day. But the race came back together in the final kilometres for the fast men.
“I wasn’t expecting this third victory to come today, and that’s what makes it even more beautiful. I can really thank my team for the confidence; I wasn’t confident in myself this morning. I even got dropped inn the first climb.”
