After nasty weather conditions that caused logistical issues, the start of the stage 2 was delayed for 15 minutes. Once the stage got underway, a leading group stayed together which resulted into a mass sprint for the line. Removing the sprinters, the puncheurs and classic specialists took over.
Mathieu van der Poel won the uphill sprint ahead of Tadej Pogacar to claim the yellow jersey with Jonas Vingegaard taking third place.
"It was super difficult, the final was actually harder than I thought. I think it is a dream for the team, the first two days. I think everything else now that comes now is just a bonus."
