Friday File: Friday the 13th, Wetcouver, Epic climbs - Mont Ventoux & King of the Mountains

Friday the 13th file today and I don't consider it unlucky. I have broken my record for days spent off the bike, now a month and ongoing. My old record was three weeks off the bike. All due to work and that I'm schedule for a doctor's visit next week to take care of a niggling issue. No nothing serious but enough to keep from riding. Friday the 13th conjures up the Jason slasher movies, you won't find any such images here so I present to you, the lighter side of cycling...

Winter's around the corner (it already started here in wetcouver) that means plenty of days upon days of rain and temperatures in the single digits. Today's a respite no rain but I know it will return. It's cold and I have winterized my bike and have plans to winterize some of my old worn bike kit with practical new items (review upcoming).

The 2016 Tour de France is climb heavy featuring nine mountain stages and four mountain top finishes. Mont Ventoux is back to host a mountain - top finish that the French fans are keen to celebrate a home winner on Bastille Day - July 14. The legendary climb first hosted a finish in the 1958 Tour won by the Angel of the Mountains - Charly Gaul...
