Cruelly good

My prediction: Opening Weekend victory for Oliver Naesen.

This weekend is looking so Flandrian for classic riding. Wind gusts up to 80 km/h and rain with temperatures hovering under 10C. The opening weekend of the classics starts with Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne on Sunday. Belgian, Oliver Naesen loves these conditions...

"These will be easier races to do. These will certainly be very nice races to watch on television. Ah, these are the days that count, what we do this job for and what you talk about with great pleasure.
The wind is cruelly good. This means that after the Bosberg, the wind is in the back. The rain? It's not cruel, but it's the same for everyone, right? Wind gusts? We have to stay straight, keep our line but last year the win was just as strong in Ghent-Wevelgem. Not to mention this edition five years ago."

"We are coming to a course that we know by heart, and with high ambitions focused on Oliver Naesen, and indeed the entire AG2R La Mondiale team. This opening weekend is hotly awaited by our Flanderian experts. If the forecast stays the same, we will certainly be expecting difficult conditions on the cobblestones. But we are ready for everything, and we hope that this will be the start of a beautiful 2020 campaign that will culminate with Paris-Roubaix."
