Phil Gil’s last race
Philippe Gilbert at 40 years old closed out his 20-year career last Sunday with victory in the 2nd edition of the Beking Criterium in Monaco.
“I am very happy. I won both races. In the Pro-Am, the difference to second was only a second and winning the pro race was also far from easy. The level of the competitors' field was very high. The race was tough. I enjoyed participating in a charity event with all these champions. It was nice to end my career this way, in a place where I lived for 13 years."
