Rapenncross Lokeren: Nys and Brand

Turbo Nys

Thibau Nys is flying. In his first race wearing the European champion's jersey, Nys stormed to victory on Sunday afternoon at the Rapenncross Lokeren. He sent a clear message to his rivals of the likes of Vandeputte, Michels, van der Harr and Iserbyt's chances were ruined by a mid-race crash.

"Eli's fall was the moment to open the gas. My technique and my legs finally got into rhythm. It loosened up, and then I had to keep riding. It is a cross where you have to stay focused. I was only sure after the last descent. My back started to tire. It was beautiful. I enjoyed it from start to finish, but it was also exhausting."

Lucinda Brand

"I wanted to balance between riding as fast as possible to the finish, but not going to the limit because we are also riding in Neil tomorrow."
-Lucinda Brand. The Dutch national champion is still yet to finish off the podium this winter. She has three wins in her seven outings this cross campaign.
