Magnus Cort

One of Spain's most recently created races, O Gran Camino (debut 2022), has had very reputable winners in recent years (2024/2023: Jonas Vingegaard, 2022: Alejandro Valverde) and the 2025 edition throws up some surprises. The Galician race will start in Portugal, and take place from February 26 to March 2. Five stage that will include summit finishes, a gravel stage and a time-trial.

Stage highlights:

Stage 1: 189km Maia-Matoshinhos: Magnus Cort (Uno-X Mobility) sprinted to victory, holding off Santiago Mesa (Efapel) and Giovanni Leonard (Polti-VisitMalta) to take the first leader's jersey.

Stage 2: 133.3km Marin - A Estrada. First mountain stage, with two 3rd cat climbs: San Antonino and San Vicenzo, which will be climbed twice before the finish.

Stage 3: ITT Ourense - O Pereiro de Aguiar, 15.6km. It will not be flat, as halfway through the race the riders will be challenged by the Alto de Sabadelle (4.9km at 5.7%).

Stage 4: 137.4km A Pobra do Brollon - O Cebreiro. The queen stage with a tough finish in the mythical mountain pass of O Cebreiro. 3,100 meters of elevation gain, with other iconic climbs such as A Pitinidoira.

Stage 5: 166.5km Betanzos - Santiago de Compstela. The GC will be decided on the last day of the race, with another demanding stage, with tow climbs to the Alto de Lampai, and three sterrato sections before the finish in Santiago de Compostela.
