Paris-Nice & GP Monseré

Tim Merlier was the pre-stage favourite to take victory on the opening day of Paris-Nice. He didn't disappoint as the Belgian leader of Soudal-Quick Step stormed to a dominant win in Le Perray-en-Yvelines. Fast Frenchman Arnaud Demare finished second...

"Second... I'm disappointed. I wasn't in a good position going into the last bend. I'm a bit locked in. Disappointed but Tim Merlier was solid. The final was very tiring. I didn't think it would be so tough. We saw some riders in trouble. I thought it would speed up in terms of the bonus. It's the third time since the start of the season that I've finished second in a sprint. Now we have to turn these podiums into victories."
