Juan Ayuso becomes the fifth Spaniard to win the Trident
"Last year it was quite a different year because it was the first time the biggest goal of the season (Tour de France) was not towards me, it was towards a teammate (Pogacar) and it's not something I'm used to doing. This year, my biggest goal is the Giro and so the pressure falls on me, and that is something I like.
Tadej is the best rider in the world, so you have to race for him. So every every chance you get in this team, you have to really show and prove you're worth it. I'm glad that I could win here."
-Juan Ayuso
Fourths for IPT: Derek Gee finished 4th on GC. Jake Stewart just missed the podium for fourth place.
"It was stressful and Ineos made the race pretty hard to keep the bonus seconds in play and move Ganna up. I was pretty disappointed yesterday to be off the podium but I think I'm a little happier now.
There were definitely some lows. We spent a big day chasing after a crosswind split but I was really happy with the time trial, really happy with the legs on the climbs, and the boys were amazing all week. I think we made some massive leaps in the process of how to ride for the GC so that was really positive."
-Derek Gee. The Canadian will take valuable lessons out of this week and looks to race together as a team ahead of the Giro d'ltalia.
