Volta Catalunya stage 6: A change in the results sees Anders Foldager step onto the podium.
The Dane is rewarded with his debut WorldTour podium!
High winds (over 100 km/hr) curtailed the route of the Queen stage, preventing the race from reaching the summit finish at Queralt. Organisers proposed a new shortened route, initially intended the peloton to complete a full lap of the circuit, the riders united to request that they race only the final portion of the first lap. It was a chaotic stage 6, with route changes, and a finale where the GC times were not taken into account. Quinn Simmons took full advantage and took a strong victory in the final hilltop finish.
"First we were going to race, then we didn't, then a short race, then two laps and then only 25 kilometers at the end. It's a bit surprising that I won here, because to be honest, I was one of the riders who voted not to start, because of the wind. But hey, it's a World Tour race. It's my first World Tour win, so this is very special.
When the race is so short, it can be very nervous. We didn't even know when we were going to start. I was at the back of the cars taking off my leg warmers, so I was in the third group on the descent. I thought it was over after two kilometers, but I rode back myself. It was crazy."

Chasing the Ardennes
Alexey Lutsenko preps for the Ardennes Classics as he recorded his best result since joining Israel Premier Tech at Coppi Bartali on Saturday. He placed third on the final stage in Forli and moved up to fourth overall thanks to the bonus seconds he collected at the finish line.
"After a long training camp in Tenerife and this week of racing. I'm happy with my shape. I'm focused on preparing for the Ardennes and I'll be working hard there to make more progress. Today was a short stage-it was fast, there was rain at the start, it was cold, and the whole peloton has been full gas since the first day. My legs had a good feeling - I tried to make a breakaway, but in the final I concentrated more on the sprint. This worked out for me as I took the bonus seconds and moved up on GC."
