Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) who was relegated from the third stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, has been declared the winner once again! Aranburu initially being disqualified for appearing to take a wrong turn. He appeared to ignore hoardings and go the wrong way around the final roundabout of the race. The organisers acknowledged that, 'he correctly followed the planned route, and that there was an error in the roundabout signage', confirming that the Spanish champion had followed the route correctly.
"I'm happy that I could finally finish off the work of the whole team today. With Anna Henderson in the break, we didn't have to chase, and that made a big difference. In the final, the lead-out was fantastic, and I had the perfect position to sprint."
