UAE Team Emirates dominated the difficult, rain-soaked stage with nearly 4,000 metres of vertical climbing, as Joao Almeida attacked on the reace's hardest ascent, the Cat 1 Izua catching lone breakaway Ben Healy. With 20 kilometres to go, Almeida and Mas raise the pace where he outsprinted the Spaniard for his first WorldTour stage race win.
