Tour du Doubs: Verche’s first victory. Tour of Alps: Ciccone claims stage 1

The 39th Tour du Doubs continued the one-day Coupe de France racing in France with a 196km race from Pontarlier to Morteau. Off the previous day's Tour du Jura, this race offered another hilly challenge to Morteau. Matteo Vercher (TotalEnergies) won a breakaway sprint to take the victory, beating runner-up Adrien Maire and third-placed Ivan Cobo.

48th Tour of the Alps

Giulio Ciccone ends an almost two-year long victory drought with an uphill sprint to win in San Lorenzo Dorsino. This is Lidl-Trek's 15th victory of the season, a first cat mountain finished with a three-kilometer climb to the finish - perfect for the Italian climber. Ciccone looks to be in excellent form ahead of the Giro d'ltalia (May9-June1).

"I think we did a great job today, I really need to say thanks to all my teammates. We had a plan and I think we did it in the perfect way. It was a long time without victory for me and I really needed it today. I think it's even more special being in Italy in this race that I really like. After a long time at altitude it's always nice to restart the racing with a victory."
