Vine escapes in Romandie, Lopez, Poels 1-2 in Turkey

Australian, Jay Vine made a solo break to win stage 3 of the Tour de Romandie as Alex Baudin retained the overall race leader's yellow jersey. Vine broke away with one kilometre to go and crossed the line two seconds ahead of the peloton led by Lenny Martinez.

"There was a pause in the group, and I mean I'm not very bright, so I was like 'Is it 1km to the top of the climb, or 1km to the finish', but that was probably my bullet and my moment to go, and I took it. Once I rounded the corner, I knew it started to flatten off and go downhill again, so I was pretty safe by them."

Harold Martin Lopez brought yet another brilliant 1-2 result for XDS Astana who took the stage victory, while race leader Wout Poels finished in second place three seconds behind his teammate.

"It all worked perfectly, I won, and Wout finished second. We'll enjoy this a little today, but then we'll refocus to finish the job on Sunday."
-Harold Martin Lopez
