Squiban takes her break-away
The first day in the high mountains of the Tour de France Femmes was full of anticipation. While the GC favorites watched each other, Marva Squiban (UAE Team ADQ) made her move with 3 kilometers to climb on the second-category Col du Chansert. With no coordinated chase containing the pre-race favorites, the 23-year-old Frenchwoman held her advantage all the way to the line, into the biggest win of her career. A determined ride by the Breton.
"I didn't expect to do that. I knew we had a strong team, we are only four now but we were all really strong and we knew we were able something big today and we did it so it's a special day for us."
-Maeva Squiban
