Olav Kooij was just too cool, winning the second stage of the Renewi Tour. The wind caused several echelons to form. In the end, a reduced peloton sprinted, it was chaotic, but the Dutchman was by far the fasted in Belgium. Kooij stayed ahead of Milan Fretin (Cofidis) and Pavel Bittner (Picnic PostNL).
"Positioning is always a big part of sprinting, and especially in these races, it's all day quite a big fight for position, so we did a great job. We were maybe a bit early, but that also saved me some energy, and I'm really happy with this win."
