Isabella Holmgren: Double MTB World Titles

Isabella Holmgren gave an outstanding ride at the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, a gold in both the U23 Women's XCC and the U23 Women's XCO events for a second consecutive year. An historic achievement for Canadian cycling by the 20-year-old as one of the sport's top talents.

She started the week winning the U23 Women's XCC. She followed up with a decisive win in the U23 Women's XCO, conquering the Valais technical terrain to earn the title. Holmgren got to compete alongside her twin sister and Lidl-Trek teammate, Ava, who finished ninth in short track and seventh in XCO. Canada had three riders in the top 10, with Ella MacPhee sixth and Ava Holmgren ninth.

"I was terrified on the descents and stuff, but I trusted Oscar (manager), and it was fun. I think my favorite part was before the main rock garden, there's a left hand corner, and I just felt like I was riding it really well. Ave had a really good day, too. It was so much fun. I'm so proud of her. She killed it."

Holmgren delivered a flawless performance at the Tour de l'Avenir Femmes becoming the
first Canadian ever to win this prestigious under-23 stage race.
