Sprinters’ World Championship, CRO Race stage 4

Brandon McNulty attacked on the penultimate climb and rode solo to the finish in Labin, winning stage 4 of the CRO Race in style. The American picking up UAE’s 87th win of the season and into the leader’s jersey with two stages remaining.

McNulty carries the fine form, having recently won the GP Cycliste de Montreal and Tour de Luxembourg. With two stages to go, McNullty leads the race, with second-placed Edoardo Zambanini sitting 1:39 in the GC.

“I had a bit of suffering to the finish but that was basically how we planned. I think it is easier than last year, because last year we had less gap and all the bonus seconds. So to have over one minute is a little bit more comfortable, I think as long as everything goes smoothly, we should be ok.”

Sparkassen Munsterland Giro

Jasper Philipsen timed his sprint to perfection to pip Arnaud De lie, defending his crown from last year to victory at the Sparkassen Munsterland Giro.

“It was quite chaotic, there was a small crash in one of the final laps, so we were with a smaller group and it was always a bit nervous. It’s always on a flat race with all the sprinter are here, they always say that - that it was the sprinters’ World Championships - It’s been a long season for everybody and we’re all tired with the motivation not super high, but we always try to make the best out of it.”
