Sara Casasola (Cretan Corendon) claimed her biggest victory of her cyclocross career playing the opportunist at Superprestige Overijse, becoming the first Italian rider ever to win the prestigious Druivencross. The 25-year-old took it too Lucinda Brand who crashed while leading, converting weeks of near-misses into a landmark success in the Superprestige series. With her maiden triumph she is a genuine contender among the sport’s elite.
“It’s unbelievable to win such a classic race. Lucinda was so strong, and we were really on the limit the whole time. I had a bit of luck - when she fell, I just went full gas to the finish.”
