Noemi Ruegg with the help from her teammates took the stage win and the general classification title in the Tour Down Under. She started the day in third place sitting 17 seconds back and with two ascent up the Corkscrew (7.1% at 3.3kms) the squad kept her in perfect position. As the race hit the Corkscrew for the final time, three riders from UAE Team ADQ attacked. Ruegg held her cool with 500 meters ahead, she timed her sprint to win the stage and overall victory.
“I was so focused up this last climb that I was really in my own world, in my own tunnel, and then I just focused on covering all the attacks from UAE. Today we did it totally to perfection and that’s why we could win this. This was a real team win.”

Samuel Watson brought Ineos Grenadiers’ first win of the year with a win on the prologue of the Tour Down Under in Adelaide.
