Stage 1 was a three-lap circuit with ascents to Menglers Hill of 120 kilometers. Guillaume Martin alongside teammate Enzo Paleni was in the day’s breakaway and claimed two of the day’s three intermediate sprints. The French climber collected 6 seconds, necessary for his GC stint which started off poorly in the Adelaide prologue. He has made up some of it and is now 23 seconds behind leader Tobias Lund Andresen.
