MVDP in Omloop and Seixas in exclusive territory

The monster Muur move

Mathieu van der Poel claimed his Omloop Het Nieuwsblad debut with a resounding victory, launching his winning move on the Muur van Geraardsbergen and riding clear for the first Belgian Classic of the season.  No rider has ever won Omloop and the Tour of Flanders in the same season, but he hopes to become the man to break the curse in 2026.

“How I stayed upright on the Molenberg? I don’t know myself. I couldn’t really avoid that Tudor rider, so I half-ran over him with one foot out of my pedal. I hope I didn’t hurt him too much. I didn’t see what happened behind me, but it must have been chaos. When I came up with Florian, we had a serious gap, so I think that was the moment of the race.”

Paul Seixas (Decathlon), at 19 year-old attacked with 41 kilometres remaining, after the early breakaway was caught, and transformed an initial ten-second advantage into a huge solo triumph sealed the victory at Faun-Ardeche Classic. Already a winner this season at the Volta ao Algarve, the young Frenchman joined a rare company in the history of the Faun-Ardeche Classic. Recent editions have been won by riders in their early twenties, including Juan Ayuso and Romain GrĂ©goire, but Sexias’ effort puts him into even more exlcusive territory!

Paul Sexias: After his victory, he sends a wink to Montreal.
