Groenewegen on a Rocket, Catalunya stage 3

Dylan Groenewegen (Unibet Rose Rockets) have now won three races in a row. They keep on rolling with the first WorldTour victory in the windy Tour of Bruges. The Dutchman and his young team is looking unbeatable in Belgium this week, already adding the Bredene Koksijde Classic and GP Jean-Pierre Monsere to their tally. When asked why the success…

“I don’t know, we’re enjoying ourselves, especially when we win. That’s great motivation, and we’ve got a good mix of young riders and experienced guys. Now we’ve got some victories, and that’s really nice.”

-Dylan Groenewegen

Dorian Godon won the chaotic stage 3 of the Volta a Catalunya. Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard had managed to break clear together in the crosswinds, but the Belgian rider crashed inside the final kilometre and the Dane was swallowed up by the peloton in the closing few hundred metres.

“I wanted to position myself for the sprint, but right at that moment, there was a fairly large pothole. I hit it. I hadn’t seen it, and it wasn’t really visible on the road. There were no markings.”
-Remco Evenepoel.

“I wanted to win today again and spend another days as GC leader. Yesterday evening I was a bit angry to miss the win, so today I wanted to win again.”
-Dorian Godon
