Tour de Suisse: Stage 4 razor-thin drama, Baloise Belgium Tour

 

Tadej Pogacar has won the stage 4 ITT by just four hundredths of a second, denying Mathieu van der Poel after a dramatic finale in Aarburg.

Van der Poel had looked like he clocked the winning time after setting the fastest time in the hotseat, 23.7km in 26:38:03. The Slovenian Slayer stopped the clock in 26:37:99 taking the stage win by the smallest possible margin. 

That’s another victory for Pogacar in a Tour de Suisse that he controls before Sunday’s final stage to Villars-sir-Ollon, while Van der Poel produces his strongest performance of the race so far and a heartbreak near miss.
