Isaac Del Toro, who is the favourite of the overall victory, has won the opening stage of the Deutschland Tour. He secured victory in the 2.5km prologue in Bad Orb, Hesse, ahead of Paul Magnier and Laurenz Rex - both of Soudal Quick-Step.
The Renewi Tour often attracts a strong sprint field, but the 2026 edition might just have the strongest sprint line-up this season. Dubbed the sprint world championships by Lidl Trek DS Adriano Baffi, it was a nail-biting finish won by Jonathan Milan edging out Olav Kooij at the end of a messy and sodden day of racing.
“The other sprinters here are super strong riders, I really like to compete against them, they always bring out the best of me, and also today you saw it was really close with Olav. He is a super strong rider and we will see what happens tomorrow. We will try again, of course, but first we enjoy this victory.”
