La Vuelta: 0.09 seconds, Renewi Tour, Deutschland Tour & Tour of Britain

Tadej Pogacar won the opening stage of the Vuelta a Espana by just 0.09 seconds, denying Ethan Hayter victory in a ITT through Monaco. He stopped the clock in 10:57.14 to take the first red jersey of the race and looks to make a winning start to his pursuit of the only Grand Tour missing from his extensive palmares.

Josh Tarling completed the podium, four seconds behind Pogacar, little more than a week after the death of his younger brother Finlay. Fellow Briton Callum Thornley finished fourth on his Grand Tour debut, five seconds down, while Christophe Laporte took fifth.
