Mads in Provence, Christen cool in Murcia

On a frantic day on stage 2, Mads Pedersen outsprinted Matej Mohoric for glory, moving into the overall race lead of the Tour de la Provence.

“When you have a strong group behind pulling, chasing you, it’s never safe until you pass the finish line. So I would say the ‘k’ I was sure would sprint for the victory, but you are never sure. The stage suits me very well, with the climb. It was our plan to go really hard and try to be a small group on the top. The plan succeeded and we are really happy. We got what we came for, to at least have one stage victory.”

-Mads Pedersen takes his first victory of the season.

Vuelta a Murcia

Fabio Christen was against the odds where many WorldTour teams had multiple riders present in the first group of eleven... Fabio was not deterred. The 22-year-old Swiss kept his cool and launched his sprint at the right moment to give Q36.5 Cycling Team its fifth win of the season. The Vuelta a la Region de Murcia was his first pro victory of the season

Next up in Spain on Sunday with the Clasica Almeria: a race where Q35.6 claims its first win in 2023 with Matteo Moschetti.

"It was not easy with three guys of UAE and three from Astana in the group, but I know I have a strong sprint. I was confident and I had the legs, so I didn't want to wait. I went for the surprise by going early. It was a long sprint, and the finish line came just in time. The first win is always the most difficult one to get."

-Fabio Christen
