Giro d’ltalia Stage 6 pile up, 4 Jours de Dunkerque Stage 2

The longest stage of the this year's Giro hand only a winner to celebrate as the crash which occurred with 70 km to forced organisers to make the decision not to award points, time gaps or bonuses. Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Decceuninck) was the absolute fastest in the final sprint, shy of five hours ahead of Milan Fretin (Cofidis). Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step), who also crashed earlier, finished third.

"It's a big relief. I arrived here without a win, so getting the first one for the year is a big relief. These wet roads are quite slippery, knowing the cobbles starting around the two-km mark was super important to be in front. But in the end, we also needed to use some guys early to chase, close the breakaway, they did a super ride. Once it started raining, I felt quite a bit bettter actually. I'm quite good in the colder, wetter conditions."
-Kaden Groves

Lewis Askey waited more than three years to get his first pro victory. Barely a week after winning the Boucles de l'Aulne, he did it again in stage 2 of the 4 Jours de Dunkerque. He also climbed to second place overall, while bringing the sixth victory of the season to Groupama-FDJ.

"I unclipped on the finish line because I wanted to give it my all, maybe even too much."
-Lewis Askey
