The 41st edition of Tro Bro Leon was deeper than ever, with 8 WorldTeams among 22 squads on the start line. The weather was off and on rain and on the 29 ribinou - absolute pandemonium! In the end, Bastien Tronchon led home a Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale one-two, claiming the northern Finistere classic with Pierre Gautherat at his side. The French duo made their move from 5 kms out, just after Fredrik Deversnes (Uno-X Mobility) hit the deck fro the second time. Tronchon had his own share of bad luck earlier - with 60 km to go, took a wrong turn and suffering two punctures. Tronchon survived and made it back to the first peloton and made his winning bid with his teammate Gautherat.
Tronchon, 23, followed up his second place in the Tour du Finistere Friday with a second victory of his career, three years after his first win with a stage of the Vuelta a Burgos.
"It was a crazy day, and I immediately saw that I had a great feeling, with the punch I'd regained after the Ardennaises. My aim was to get ahead of the pack in the final stages so as to fina a good group and be less affected by the race, and that's what I managed to do. I found myself a bit alone at the front at times, but I always remained calm despite the ups and downs of the race. We showed, with Pierre, that the team was really solid by taking the first two places on the podium. I'm really happy to be able to do the double with him, because we managed to open up the gap in the final stages, and this photo finish is much nicer with two of us."
